There are 3 main battle interactions:

  • Super Effective (Strong Against)
    Attacks deal more damage.
  • Not Very Effective (Weak Against)
    Attacks deal less damage.
  • Neutral Damage
    Attacks deal normal damage.

A Fire attack used against a Grass Pokémon is super effective.

A Fire attack used against a Water Pokémon is not very effective.
